What is gestational diabetes?
Gestational diabetes is when your body develops a condition during pregnancy that prevents your body from processing Carbohydrates (sugar) efficiently.
The result is that your body can only handle specific amounts of sugar in the blood at once. A big misconception is that you when you have gestational diabetes, you cannot have carbohydrates, or can only have very little carbohydrates. This is not true! In fact, your body needs enough carbohydrates to function well and develop a healthy baby! Your body CAN process carbohydrates, it just does not do this job as well as it used to.
The trick is to EAT IN A WAY that makes sure that you don’t have too much sugar in the blood at once.
This includes; amounts of food, types of food, combinations of food, timing of meals, and more. When you incorporate the many nutrition principles based on clinically proven science as well as my professional experience, you will be able to eat carbohydrates, while still having excellent sugar management. The result will be a a healthy and happy pregnancy.
